Jeffrey R. Edelman

Jeffrey R. Edelman is an aggressive advocate with a proven record of success who focuses his practice in the areas of family law and divorce, criminal defense and commercial litigation.

Born and the Bronx in the shadow of Yankee Stadium and raised in Syosset on Long Island NY, he is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati (B.B.A. 1971) and the New England School of Law (J.D. 1974). After law school, Jeff joined Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) and moved to Bismarck, North Dakota where he volunteered for a year at the United Tribes Employment Training Center (UTETC), representing native American tribes and native Americans. After completing one year of his VISTA service in North Dakota, he reenlisted for another year and moved to Denver, where he worked for a year as a legal aid lawyer before going into private practice in January 1977.

For more than 30 years he has worked throughout the Denver metropolitan area, representing clients in all state and federal court matters, including divorce, catastrophic personal injury, criminal defense, DUI defense, representing children as guardian ad litem, grandparents advocacy, property division and asset protection, and other litigation matters and appeals.

Jeff is a 28-year member of the Federal Criminal Justice Act Court Appointment List for indigent criminal defendants charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado with federal felonies and misdemeanors, and is admitted to practice in Colorado, Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He is a member of the Denver, Colorado and American Bar Associations, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association and the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar.

Jeff is married and has four children. Two of his kids were adopted internationally and two of them are from a previous marriage. Jeff has been through a divorce with his children and personally knows the emotional trauma and high stakes when dealing with divorce and children.  He will always counsel you so that your children's best interests are served first. His personal experience brings additional empathy and passion to the representation of his clients.
